Ethical Artificial Intelligent Systems for Humanity, Social Good and a Sustainable Future

Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI systems (AIS), Big Data, IoT and DML have incredible potential. Many of us only experience AI indirectly, through recommendation systems, chatbots and smart assistants like Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa. AI is playing an ever-increasing role in society around the globe. Applications are endless, from seemingly positive uses like task automation, language translation and advanced data processing, to more worrisome examples such as predictive policing, profiling of minorities, and the rise of so-called deep fakes.

eWorldwide Group has been researching and advocating for truly ethical AI, Big Data, IoT and DML that can serve humanity and deliver social good in a sustainable inclusive manner. We have also been raising awareness and driving global collaborations across governments, businesses, academia and civil society for the need of transparency, accountability on the diverse opportunities of AI, and their potential positive and negative impact on economies, societies and environment.

Without careful consideration, AI can compound the many challenges marginalised groups already experience, make existing problems worse, and accelerate climate change. At a minimum, ethical AI demands multi-sector stakeholder engagement, advocacy and mobilisation alongside policy reforms, standards and compliance.
